Booch identity design
Spring 2021
Identity design, naming & text development
Fictive school project

How do we get young people to realize there's other alternatives to booze? We decided to tell it to them. Real loud.

This was an identity and packaging project, for a fictive kombucha-brand, which sells kombucha marketed as a booze-free alternative for young people. In a survey I did, I found that 3/4 of the people don't even consider other alternatives to booze than the regular boring soft drink. So for this project, that's what I focused on.

I used words and tone-of-voice to create a bold design that directly communicated with the target group, literally.

The inspiration for this project came from the time during the Covid lockdowns, where we weren’t allowed to drink alcohol at restaurants in Oslo. I was out eating dinner at a fancy restaurant, when I realized that it didn’t even appear as a possibility to order a booze free alternative, besides the regular Fanta. I then ordered a kombucha as a white wine alternative, and it was great. And that where the idea came from.

As part of the project, I worked a lot with the process of finding a fitting name, and with the development of text and the tone-of-voice, which was the most important part of the design.
